The Rules of Salvation Are the Same For All

# 669 Today's Du-votional comes from: Mr 13:19 "For in those days there will be tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the creation which God created until this time, nor ever shall be. 20 "And unless the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect's sake, whom He chose, He shortened the days.

Again Jesus is referring specifically to the destruction of Jerusalem which would take place in 70 A.D. The word tribulation here means a squeezing or pressing in, and if you take the time to read the accounts of Josephus you will see what Jesus meant.

The Roman siege (squeezing) against Jerusalem was horrific, and if God wouldn't have put a stop to it at Jerusalem, the Jews would've been completely wiped out. God stopped the possible extermination of the Jews in Esther's day, in Hitlers and Stalin's day, in the days of the inquisition. And as horrific as these other events were, Jesus tells us that the destruction of Jerusalem was even worse!

But the Jews will never be exterminated! Never! There will always be Jews, and there will always be believing Jews, because God has promised to always keep a remnant of His chosen people. As Paul wrote in Ro 11:5 Even so then, at this present time there is a remnant according to the election of grace.” No other ethnic group of people has that promise, it's why we must not weary in bringing the Good News to the Jews.

But the rules of salvation are the same for all. Ro 10:12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him.

And that rule is salvation by the “election of grace” alone. Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Father, let us never weary of proclaiming the Good News to all people. For it is Your power unto salvation.
