Going All In

# 652 Today's Du-votional comes from: Mr 12:41 Now Jesus sat opposite the treasury and saw how the people put money into the treasury. And many who were rich put in much. 42 Then one poor widow came and threw in two mites, which make a quadrans. 43 So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them, "Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury; 44 "for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood."

Just imagine being this widow. No husband, no life insurance policy, no welfare check or food stamps, just 2 cents to her name. Not knowing where her next piece of bread is coming from, she gives it all to the church offering basket.

“For crying out loud woman, look at the beautiful temple, the ornate trumpet shaped coin receptacles. What possible difference can your two cents make? Keep it and buy some flour or something. Furthermore, you are giving to a corrupt church run by a bunch of fat cat Pharisees and Sadducees!”

But this woman doesn't see it that way. She sees the church for what it should be, a place where we go all in with each other and all in with God. No wonder Jesus was impressed. It's not about giving all our money, it's about being willing to go all in with our heart, soul, and might! (Dt 6:5).

Thank You Lord for this beautiful picture of what it means to follow You. Help me to present myself a living sacrifice to you every day. Help me to go all in and stay all in.
