A Different Kind of Well Done

# 650 Today's Du-votional comes from: Mr 12:40 "who devour widows' houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. These will receive greater condemnation."

Hell is chilling enough, but in this verse we see that these “ripocrites”, “those who take advantage of others in the name of Jesus) will receive the tortures of hell in an even more terrifying way!

The matter of degrees in hell was also spoken of by Jesus in Luke 12:41-48. In this portion of Scripture, He assigns the more terrible punishment to those who spit on His grace and mercy by wild living and withholding mercy from others. And in v47,48 we read, “And that servant who knew his master's will, and did not prepare himself or do according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. 48 "But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving of stripes, shall be beaten with few.”

Now don't think for a minute that any level of hell is tolerable. It isn't. But know too that a specially tortuous spot is reserved for hypocrites.

Unredeemed sinners will suffer, but unmerciful hypocrites will suffer more. Are you a hypocrite? Are you in this only for “show?” Enjoy the fruits of your hypocrisy now, for the only “well done” you will hear on Judgment Day will be the degree to which you will be cooked in the fires of hell.

Repent of your hypocrisy and be spared, it's not what others think that matters! It's what God knows. Turn to Jesus, He is the only One who can deliver us from hypocrisy.

Oh God, help me to walk humbly in Your mercy with Jesus. He is my only hope.
