You Won't Be Able To Contain Your Joy

# 379 - Today's Living Word comes from Mr 5:27,28 “When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. For she said, "If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well."

Why the secrecy? Why did this woman sneak up behind Jesus for a back door healing? Remember, her physical problem was a continual flow of blood and this “spotting” made her unclean according to Levitical Law. (Lev 15:25-27)

Le 15:25 'If a woman has a discharge of blood for many days, other than at the time of her customary impurity, or if it runs beyond her usual time of impurity, all the days of her unclean discharge shall be as the days of her customary impurity. She shall be unclean. 26 'Every bed on which she lies all the days of her discharge shall be to her as the bed of her impurity; and whatever she sits on shall be unclean, as the uncleanness of her impurity. 27 'Whoever touches those things shall be unclean; he shall wash his clothes and bathe in water, and be unclean until evening.

Just coming into contact with any bed that this woman slept on or any chair she sat in, or even touching any part of her body made that person unclean. That's quite a stigma to be carrying around isn't it?

I wonder how many “Don't touch the bed and don't touch the chair” signs she had in her house. I wonder how many times she refused to take a seat on the bus. I wonder how many people were made unclean in this throng of people around Jesus as she bumped into them on her way to His garment? These people really didn't need to know about her problem. It was a private matter for her.

She really believed that if she could just quietly touch the garment of Jesus she would be healed and no one would have to know. But you know what? That's just not the way it works folks. When Jesus heals, you gotta tell somebody! When a person comes to the realization that they are no longer unclean, that their sins have been forgiven....they simply have to tell somebody.

What? You mean if I give my life to Jesus I'm going to have to tell others? Yes, but don't let that scare you away! Believe me when Jesus removes your uncleanness, when He takes away your sins, your joy will be uncontainable!

I'm Duane Matz and that's Today's Living Word.
