Don't Run Jesus Out of Town

# 395 - Today's Living Word comes from Mr 6:5,6 “Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. And He marveled because of their unbelief. Then He went about the villages in a circuit, teaching.”

“He could do no mighty work there.” What do you mean? He's God! What's stopping Him? In a word. Unbelief! The inability of the people of His hometown to believe that this Jesus was not just the carpenter's son, but the Son of God curtailed the miraculous aspect of His ministry in Nazareth.

I've got news for you. If we resist what the Bible says about Jesus, and what He has to say about us, we too will miss out on His miraculous power! Given the evidence of His existence through creation and the evidence of changed lives in His followers, God must look at us some times and marvel at our own unbelief!

How bad was the unbelief of these hometown folks? Luke tells us in Luke 4:29, that these people were so upset at His teaching and His claims that they rose up and drove Him out of town to the top of a cliff and they were going to toss Him off!

No wonder only a few were healed in Nazareth, Jesus had to flee for His very life! 'And passing through their midst, He went away.” Jesus was in the midst of these people but their unbelief forced Him to leave! What a chilling thought!

He is in our midst even today in the form of the Holy Spirit! Lord, and so often we too, want to “push” Him out of certain areas of our lives believing we can handle it ourselves. Lord, help our unbelief!

I'm Duane Matz and that's Today's Living Word.
