# 388 - Today's Living Word comes from Mr 5:37 And He permitted no one to follow Him except Peter, James, and John the brother of James.
So here we go again with the three amigos. The inner circle of disciples that were called upon by Jesus to be witnesses to what He is about to do. De 19:15b says, "by the mouth of two or three witnesses the matter shall be established.” This is a biblical principle that cannot be repeated enough.
It comes into play in the church today especially in the matter of church discipline. In fact the verse is quoted by Jesus in Mt 18:16 as He addresses the matter of how to handle an erring brother. One witness is not enough to establish something as fact, you need at least two or three. You don't need the entire congregation, just two or three.
And so Jesus dismisses everyone else except, Peter, James, and John. These three men were also privileged to witness Jesus in His full glory on the Mount of Transfiguration, and in His full humanity as He struggled in the garden of Gethsemane.
Their witness was faithfully recorded in Scripture and it is all that should be needed for you and I to establish these matters as factual. What did these three events establish as factual? They are found in the Apostles Creed and include the (1) full humanity of Jesus, (The struggle in the Garden of Gethsemane) (2) the full deity of Jesus, (The Mount of transfiguration) and (3) the full power of Jesus over death. (The raising of Jairus' daughter)
Believe this and you will do well.
