Tend Your Garden

# 342 - Today's Living Word comes from Mr 4:18.19 "Now these are the ones sown among thorns; they are the ones who hear the word, 19 "and the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.

Entering in to what? Entering into the same soil that the Word is entering into, ….your heart! Jesus said, “No one can serve two masters, (the energy, the nutrients must be directed toward one) You cannot serve God and mammon.” (Mt 6:24)

The bad seeds of the distractions of this world, infatuation with wealth, and fascination of forbidden fruit, must not be allowed to flourish in the soil of our heart, and if they do manage to sprout, they must immediately be recognized and removed. Confessed as sin, repented of and sprinkled with the greatest weed killer of all time....the blood of Jesus!

Look at your day planner. Is it so filled with activities that there is no time for personal devotions, corporate worship, or pulling your own weight in the local congregation? Fix it!

Look at your checkbook? Are you so bent on making money that you don't seek to help the poor or support kingdom work? Fix it!

Observe your secret life. Are you entertaining thoughts or engaging in the sampling of forbidden fruit? Stop it!

Adam had his garden. Your heart is yours. Tend it. And with the help of the Holy Spirit, remove those things that would keep you from being fruitful in God's kingdom.

I'm Duane Matz and that's Today's Living Word.
