# 344b - Today's Living Word comes from Mr 4:21-23 “Also He said to them, "Is a lamp brought to be put under a basket or under a bed? Is it not to be set on a lampstand? "For there is nothing hidden which will not be revealed, nor has anything been kept secret but that it should come to light. "If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear."
Again, as we read this parable, the key to a deeper understanding is to look for Jesus. He is the lamp brought to this world by the Father through the incarnation and placed on the candlestick of Calvary.
This lamp, this light will be the great Revealer. Darkness will be totally exposed. Jesus came “To give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, To guide our feet into the way of peace." (Lu 1:79)
He came to, “to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.' (Acts 26:18)
You and I have a choice we can run to this Light and embrace Him or we can reject Him and suffer eternal condemnation. Joh 3:19 says, "And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
Is it any wonder then that Jesus ends this portion of Scripture, begging us to hear what He has to say. "If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear."
Our eternal destiny is at stake!
