Wickedness Defined

# 463 - Today's Living Word comes from: Mr 7:21 "For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, "thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness.

Next on the list of “evil things,” is wickedness. This is another term that seems rather vague as we speak of it today. I mean couldn't wickedness be defined as “all evil things?” The word here carries with it the idea of “maliciousness unleashed”. It is 'expressed” malice that affects others.

Okay, what do we mean by malice? It is any and all vicious ill will, spite, or hatred.

Have you ever done something to someone out of spite? Then you are guilty of this sin of wickedness. “It's that “I'll show him or her,”....... and then you do! It's one of the things listed in Proverbs 6 that the Lord hates: “A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil,” (Prov 6:18) The heart schemes and the feet carry it out.

Remember this the next time you catch yourself saying, “I'll show them!” Nip it in the bud and remember if there is any vengeance needed to be carried out, God will take care of it. Ro 12:19 says, “Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, "Vengeance is Mine, I will repay," says the Lord.

And if you are guilty of the sin of wickedness, confess it, turn from it, and receive God's forgiveness.
