Whoever Remarries After A Divorce Commits Adultery

# 447 - Today's living Word comes from Mr 7:21-23 “"For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, etc, "All these evil things come from within and defile a man."

Adultery. Jesus calls it an evil thing. But what is adultery?

It is the physical act of having sex with someone other than your spouse, and it is also present in the heart of one who just looks lustfully at someone other than their spouse.

But there is still another biblical definition of adultery that we don't like to talk about because it is so prevalent in the world and in the church, and that is remarriage after a divorce.

Listen to the words of Jesus in this matter. “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her, and if she divorces her husband and marries another she commits adultery. (Mr 10:11,12)

Remarriage after divorce is COMMITTING the act of adultery. Why? Well, pay attention to what's being said. Jesus chooses His words very carefully. The person who remarries commits adultery against their original spouse. And what is adultery? It is unfaithfulness to your SPOUSE. What does that tell us? It tells us that God does not recognize the divorce. In His eyes, the man and wife are still one. What God has joined together, let not man separate.

If this would not be the case Jesus would've used another word, he would've called it something else other than adultery.....but He didn't.

Remember, if you've committed this sin of adultery, confess it, receive God's forgiveness, go and sin no more. More on this issue next time.
