# 721 Today's Du-votional comes from: Mr 14:62 Jesus said, "I am. And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven."
God need not swear to anybody, but Jesus in His humanity does take an oath before the high priest. When we take an oath in court, we typically raise our right hand and swear to tell the truth. Jesus doesn't raise His right hand to take this oath, but He brings it into His oath.
He first of all swears to Caiaphas that He is indeed the Christ, and then He swears that HIS right hand will be the hand of the Power of God, that Caiaphas and the others in this council will witness in the days ahead.
Think of the displays of power that would occur in the next 72 hours! Darkness, earthquakes, the temple curtain torn in two (try to explain that one Caiaphas!) the dead walking around Jerusalem, and of course the greatest display of power....namely the empty tomb, and Jesus Himself walking around Jerusalem!)
This same, unrepentant Jerusalem, would taste firsthand of the power of God in the clouds. (Clouds are associated with God's Judgment) and the cloud fell upon Jerusalem in 70 A.D. when it was utterly destroyed.
This destruction should ever serve as a warning to all unrepentant, for on still another Day Jesus will return “with the clouds” “and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of Him” Rev 1:7
They will wail because they, like Caiaphas, rejected the Son of God. “ Lu 9:26 "For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father's, and of the holy angels.
When Jesus comes again it won't be on the soft clouds of Charmin Tissue, it'll be clouds of Judgment. Lord, have mercy that we might be found ready.
