# 525 - Today's Du-votional comes from: Mr 9:7 And a cloud came and overshadowed them; and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!"
In Matthew's account of this incident he mentions that the cloud was bright. The bright cloud representing the beneficial presence of God, as opposed to a dark cloud which would indicate a more threatening posture. When God gave the ten commandments on Mt Sinai, the cloud was dark because the Law “threatens.”
When I think of the beneficial presence of God, I think of His grace, and so these three disciples are completed overshadowed, completely swallowed up in God's grace. That's a good place to be!
And in the midst of grace, the disciples hear the Father speak, and it's like He's saying, “This grace that envelopes you now shall be forever with you, if you understand and believe that Jesus is My beloved Son, listen to Him as if you were listening to Me.”
Do you want to live a life swallowed up in the grace of God? Then acknowledge Jesus as the Christ, the Son of the Living God and then “hear Him!” Hear what He has to say about all of the Christian life, then remember what the Holy Spirit speaks through James in Jas 1:22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
Father, envelop me with Your grace, for it is only in Your grace that I am able to acknowledge Jesus as Lord and eagerly hear and serve Him for Your glory.
