# 527 - Today's Du-votional comes from: Mr 9:8 Suddenly, when they had looked around, they saw no one anymore, but only Jesus with themselves. Now as they came down from the mountain, He commanded them that they should tell no one the things they had seen, till the Son of Man had risen from the dead. So they kept this word to themselves, questioning what the rising from the dead meant.”
Sounds kind of surreal doesn't it? “Suddenly! Like poof! There they were with Jesus just as they had been moments before He was transfigured! Pinch me to see if I'm awake or did I just dream that?”
Well, the ensuing conversation clears up that notion. Jesus commands them to not tell anyone what they had literally seen until after He rises from the dead.
Personally I believe that this command of Jesus had the same force as when He commanded the waves to be still. I believe HE literally sealed their lips until the seal on the tomb was broken and the Holy Spirit gave them the green light to tell others about their experience.
Seriously, their only human! How could one keep silent about such an experience without the supernatural help of Jesus.? Yet they did! All the more reason, to bow down and worship Jesus, for who but God is able to tame the tongue of men?
Liars! Gossipers! Verbal assassins, like we all tend to be! There's hope!
Struggling with your tongue? Remember this passage and ask God to help you seal your lips.
Father, there are so many words we have spoken that we would like to have back. Help us Lord to control our speech. May it be seasoned with grace as we yield our speech to You.
