# 105 WWJD

# 105 WWJD

Joh 5:41 "I do not receive honor from men. 42 "But I know you, that you do not have the love of God in you. 43 "I have come in My Father's name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, him you will receive. 44 "How can you believe, who receive honor from one another, and do not seek the honor that comes from the only God?

Jesus did not come to this earth to please men, He came to please the Father, to do His will! That’s what He is talking about here. Everything He did was couched in the question, “What would the Father do?” He was never driven by the question, “What will people think?” He sought honor from the Father, not men, and the honor of the Father comes to all who do His will.

Remember the WWJD craze of several years ago? Bracelets, jewelry, pins, t-shirts and other items were autographed with those letters. It was good to see people wearing them, maybe some even considered the question before reacting to a given situation. But I think most of us react in accordance with WWPT! (What will people think?)

The answer to the question “What would Jesus do, is simple. He would do the will of the Father. He would not be concerned about the opinions of men. He would not be out to earn their applause. Rather He seeks the applause of heaven! This is what you and I are called to do as we live here on earth. We are to “set our mind on things above,” and determine with the Lord’s help, to do His will in accordance with His Word.

We do things like, fight for our marriage instead of throwing in the towel.

We carry that inconvenient pregnancy to term.

We abstain from pre-marital sex because even though “everyone is doing it,” God is approving none of it.

We cease from the character assassinations so often involved in gossip.

Look again at the words of Jesus in Jn 5:44, “How can you believe, who receive honor from one another, and do not seek the honor that comes only from God?

The world is okay with all these behaviors, but God is not! Jesus reminds us here to get on board with God’s will. How can you call yourself a believer if the will of God has no place in your life? This would be a good time for all of us to humbly admit that many times we have blown it. Too often we have put the honor of men ahead of the honor of God!

1Jo 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
