# 37 No Sitting On the Fence
The Book of Genesis
Day 37
Ge 3:15 And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel."
Why can’t we just get along with the devil, his demons, and his human pawns? Because God has not set it up that way. We are told here that henceforth God will array hostility between the two forces in this world. One force is all that belongs to the devil, his seed (demons and unregenerated man) The other force is the capital “S” Seed of the woman, namely Jesus and all who acknowledge Him as God! There is no getting around this arrangement. This is how God has set it up! Stop thinking that you can sit on the fence on this one. Jesus Himself would say in Mt 12:30 "He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.”
And even more to the point, Joh 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
It’s not “all roads lead to God” as some would preach and believe, there is only one way! This insistence on only one way to eternal life through the Seed (Jesus) is the flashpoint for all hostility between the two forces.
Joshua, challenged the people this way: "And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD." ( Jos 24:15)
What’s it going to be for you? Who will you serve, the devil and his seed, or the Seed of the woman, Jesus Christ? Before you make that choice consider the rest of this passage.
The devil and his seed will nip at the heels of Jesus and His followers. He will make life rough for Jesus (and he did, all the way to the cross) and life will be rough for the Seed’s followers as well. Joh 16:33 says, "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."
This is an undisputable fact.
But pay attention to what the Seed will do to the devil and his followers: “He will bruise his head!” This is a fatal blow! A blow that was guaranteed when Jesus rose from the dead! The point simply put is this: Though the followers of Jesus may have it rough in their earthly life, in the end……they win! And the victory is enjoyed forever and ever. This too, is an indisputable fact!
Reflect:
Children often play games involving “choosing sides” How did that work for you?
Have you ever felt persecuted because of your faith?
Insisting Jesus is the “only way,” will bring persecution, how is Mt 5:10-12, helpful in the face of persecution? Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 "Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 "Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Pray: Father, help me to remain steadfast in the faith, looking only to the finished work of Jesus on the cross for my salvation.
