Flee Temptations Immediately

# 423 - Today's Living Word comes from Mr 6:45,46 Immediately He made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, to Bethsaida, while He sent the multitude away. And when He had sent them away, He departed to the mountain to pray.

Immediately! What's the rush Jesus? It's at times like these that it is very important that we use our cross-references in our Bible to see what the biblical references can tell us about a specific event. This is good policy whenever reading in Scripture. Cross references can greatly enhance our understanding of Scripture and can keep us from drawing erroneous conclusions.

So, after Jesus has fed the 5000, why the urgency for his disciples to get out of there? The answer is found in the account of this incident given in the Gospel of John. In Jn 6:14,15 we see that the people were so impressed with this miracle that they were about to force him to become their king!

Where have we heard that before? Was it not one of the temptations that the devil presented to Jesus in the wilderness? Having failed in the wilderness, the devil “departed from Him until an opportune time.” (Luke 4:13) Well, here was a more opportune time and Jesus pulls out still another biblical tool to deal with temptations. “Flee.” When? Immediately! It's a God-given tool for the believer. Use it!
