An Emergency Room Nightmare

# 429 - Today's Living Word comes from Mr 6:53-56 “When they had crossed over, they came to the land of Gennesaret and anchored there. And when they came out of the boat, immediately the people recognized Him, ran through that whole surrounding region, and began to carry about on beds those who were sick to wherever they heard He was. Wherever He entered into villages, cities, or in the country, they laid the sick in the marketplaces, and begged Him that they might just touch the hem of His garment. And as many as touched Him were made well.”

Another location, but the same story. Jesus is recognized as a miracle worker and the desperate people in need of healing for their loved ones flock to Him dragging their sick on stretcher like litters. They line them up in the marketplaces.

The Greek word here for marketplace is not the idea of a farmer's market but that of a gathering place such as a town square. It's a place that Jesus would likely have to go through as He entered a town. It would have ample room for all the stretchers.

Now imagine that sight as Jesus enters through the city gate. Back to back stretchers of helpless people in need of physical healing. This is a first century triage. An emergency room nightmare.

Now think of all the people in your family, your neighborhood, your workplace, your city, your nation, your world, who need spiritual healing! Paralyzed by sin, they need to know of His forgiveness. Will you see how you might bring them to Him?

It starts with prayer and continues with your own godly example of Christ-likeness, and finishes with the proper application of the medicine of God's Word as it is spoken into their lives.

Prayer alerts the Great Physician of your concern for the wounded. Expression of Christ's love proves the genuineness of your concern and gets you into the emergency room where you have the opportunity to apply the medicine of God's Word. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.
