Completely Satisfied At the Lord's Table

# 419 - Today's Living Word comes from Mr 6:41,42 And when He had taken the five loaves and the two fish, He looked up to heaven, blessed and broke the loaves, and gave them to His disciples to set before them; and the two fish He divided among them all. So they all ate and were filled.

We get a little glimpse into the miracle itself here with the use of the imperfect tense associated with the phrase, “gave them to His disciples.” The idea being one of continuous action. The bread multiplied in His hand. It kept coming and coming and coming. The bread and the fish multiplied so much that all ate and all were filled.

The word filled here means that they were completely satisfied. Have you ever had a meal like that? Wouldn't you agree that it is a wonderful experience to leave a table completely satisfied?

Well, you know, it's how the Lord wants you and I to leave the table when we celebrate the Lord's Supper. He wants us to leave completely satisfied, secure in the knowledge that God is completely satisfied with the shed blood of Jesus as the price for our sins. For Jesus Himself said, “This is My blood of the covenant which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. (Mt 26:28) And as the bread kept coming and coming, so His forgiveness keeps coming and coming to us as we celebrate this meal until He comes again.
