Your Time of Visitation

Good day, I’m Duane Matz and welcome to Today’s Living Word.

Mt 22:6 "And the rest seized his servants, treated them spitefully, and killed them. 7 "But when the king heard about it, he was furious. And he sent out his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city..

Continuing today with the parable of the wedding feast. Last time we talked about those who weren’t willing to come to the heavenly banquet. They were the Jews who were and continue to wait for their version of a militant and conquering Messiah.

Others were just plain apathetic to the whole business of eternal life. They were more concerned about the good life now and not the hereafter.

Today, we have a third class of invitees. They flat out hate the church and sought to silence the message by torturing and killing the messengers! Many of the Apostles met horrible deaths at the hands of these Jesus haters.

Jesus then gives the prophetic warning concerning the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. The city of Jerusalem burned, the temple destroyed, those who failed to heed the warning were massacred within the city walls.

Jesus knew it was coming and the coming destruction of Jerusalem caused Him to weep!

Lu 19:41 Now as He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it, 42 saying, "If you had known, even you, especially in this your day, the things that make for your peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. 43 "For days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment around you, surround you and close you in on every side, 44 "and level you, and your children within you, to the ground; and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not know the time of your visitation."

Let these events speak to your heart today! They are somber warnings encased in very real events. A far worse ending awaits those who for whatever reason reject God’s gracious invitation to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior and be spared.

I’m Duane Matz and that’s Today’s Living Word.
