Good
day! I’m Duane Matz and this is Today’s Living Word:
Isa
66:2b "But on this one will I look:
On him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, And who trembles at My word.
By
now, we should all know that “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the
humble.” (Prov 3:34, James 4:6, 1 Pet 5:5)
His
grace is the starting point of our very salvation! Eph 2:8 For by grace you
have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of
God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.
Sufficiently
humbled by an awareness of our sin and God’s willingness to forgive us through
faith in Jesus, we are told here in Isaiah that God’s favor is bestowed on
those who “tremble” at His Word! We don’t like to use words like “tremble,”
when we talk about God. Let’s receive His forgiveness, punch our ticket to
heaven and leave it at that!
But
hold on! What does it say here? Tremble at the Word of God! It is ALL
God-breathed! 2Ti 3:16 All Scripture
is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof,
for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
It
really boils down to two camps. It’s the “Thus saith the Lord” camp vs the “did
God really say” camp. Where are you camping out these days? If you want God’s
favor, then stake it on God’s Word. His Word is truth (Jn 17:17 and it will
stand forever! (Mt 24:35) That in itself ought to provoke us to a trembling
awe, that leads to trust and a desire to obey!
.
I’m
Duane Matz and that’s Today’s Living Word.
