# 427 How To Get Your Name In the Faith Hall of Fame

The Book of Genesis

Day 427

Ge 46:2 Then God spoke to Israel in the visions of the night, and said, "Jacob, Jacob!" And he said, "Here I am."

God speaks to Jacob in a vision at night. Remember, Jacob didn’t have a Bible like you and I, and even though God may speak to us in visions, now we have the blessing of His more sure prophetic Word! (2 Pet 1:19) …the Bible.  No matter how God speaks to you and I, the final word must come from the Scriptures.

So God calls to Jacob and let’s notice his reply. “Here I am.” If you’ve been following my blogs and on air devotions through the years, you ought to know by now how much I like these three words!
Listen to the list of people who have responded to God with these three little words.
Abraham (Gen 22:1,11)
Jacob (Gen 31:11)
Moses (Ex 3:4)
Samuel (1 Sam 3:4)
Isaiah ( Is 6:8)
Ananais (Acts 9:10)

These are saints that are quoted directly, but there are many more examples in Scripture of men and women who have made themselves available to do the bidding of the Lord. Hebrews chapter 11 is filled with people who responded affirmatively to God’s call. This chapter in Hebrews is often referred to  as the “faith hall of fame.”

It really doesn’t take all that much to get into the “faith hall of fame,” just be willing, like Jacob, Abraham, and the others to simply respond to God’s call with a “here I am Lord, what is it that you would have me to do”….and then do it! Don’t worry about circumstantial evidence that can create fear and doubt and tells you it can’t be done. If God is calling you to do it, He will provide what is necessary to accomplish the task. Just make sure you are hearing from God and not your flesh.

By the way, there is one more Being who responded with the words “Here I am” in Scripture. You’ll find it in Isa 58:9, “Then you shall call, and the LORD will answer; You shall cry, and He will say, 'Here I am.' "If you take away the yoke from your midst, The pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness,”

What must we do to elicit such a response from God? Let’s see what it says in Isa 58:6 "Is this not the fast that I have chosen: To loose the bonds of wickedness, To undo the heavy burdens, To let the oppressed go free, And that you break every yoke?
7 Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; When you see the naked, that you cover him, And not hide yourself from your own flesh?
8 Then your light shall break forth like the morning, Your healing shall spring forth speedily, And your righteousness shall go before you; The glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard.
9 Then you shall call, and the LORD will answer; You shall cry, and He will say, 'Here I am.' "If you take away the yoke from your midst, The pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness,
10 If you extend your soul to the hungry And satisfy the afflicted soul, Then your light shall dawn in the darkness, And your darkness shall be as the noonday.
11 The LORD will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought, And strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.
12 Those from among you Shall build the old waste places; You shall raise up the foundations of many generations; And you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach, The Restorer of Streets to Dwell In.
13 "If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, From doing your pleasure on My holy day, And call the Sabbath a delight, The holy day of the LORD honorable, And shall honor Him, not doing your own ways, Nor finding your own pleasure, Nor speaking your own words,
14 Then you shall delight yourself in the LORD; And I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth, And feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father. The mouth of the LORD has spoken."

Wow! Seems that things like caring for the poor, not being self-righteous, and regular worship, all come into play here! This is power for prayer! Don’t neglect these things! For when you do them, your Creator says,  “Then you shall call, and the LORD will answer; You shall cry, and He will say, 'Here I am.'
