# 151 The Power of Faith

The Book of Genesis Day 151 Ge 18:10 And He said, "I will certainly return to you according to the time of life, and behold, Sarah your wife shall have a son." (Sarah was listening in the tent door which was behind him.) 11 Now Abraham and Sarah were old, well advanced in age; and Sarah had passed the age of childbearing. 12 Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, "After I have grown old, shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?" 13 And the LORD said to Abraham, "Why did Sarah laugh, saying, 'Shall I surely bear a child, since I am old?' 14 "Is anything too hard for the LORD? At the appointed time I will return to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son." But Sarah denied it, saying, "I did not laugh," for she was afraid. And He said, "No, but you did laugh!" Sarah was eavesdropping in the tent when she hears the news that she is going to have a son. She reacts the same way her husband had reacted….she laughed! She laughed to herself of course, but then she becomes acutely aware of who was speaking as the Lord says, “Why did Sarah laugh?” Now Sarah knew it was the Lord because (A) How did He know she was listening in? (B) How did He know she laughed to herself? (C) How did He know the reason for her laughter? God knows our hearts! Then the Lord speaks a word of faith to the eavesdropping Sarah. He gives her something to believe. He says, “Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you , and you will have a son.” What did Sarah do with this word from the Lord? Let’s jump ahead to the New Testament and find out. Heb 11:11 By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised. Another way of stating this might be, “She believed God and it was accounted to her as a miracle.” Sarah clung to God’s Word that said, “Is anything too hard for the Lord?” This was the flashpoint of faith for Sarah, and as she clung to it, God visited her and with His miraculous power wrought the miracle of conception in a dried up womb! Her trust in God’s Word opened the door for a miracle because it removed the great enemy of faith…..doubt. Jesu said in Mt 21:21, "Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' it will be done. Remember that as God calls you to faithful action. As He speaks His simple commands and promises to you through His Word, and you believe them and act on them, miracles will come your way. They may not be as miraculous as Sarah giving birth, but they will be unmistakable evidence of God working in your situation. Judge God as faithful, and see what He will do in your life! Pray: Father, you are a miracle working God, help me today to remember that with You, nothing is impossible!
