# 54 When Blood Speaks....God Listens
The Book of Genesis
Day 54
Ge 4:10 And He said, "What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood cries out to Me from the ground.
Cain has just murdered his brother Abel, and the blood of Abel speaks to God! It has a voice! When blood speaks, God listens. Let me share some portions of Scripture with you to illustrate that fact.
Ps 72:14 speaks of the blood of the poor and needy and God says, “ He will redeem their life from oppression and violence; And precious shall be their blood in His sight.”
Blood screams so loudly at God, that He will not hear the prayers that come from the hands soiled with innocent blood: Isa 1:15, says, “ When you spread out your hands, I will hide My eyes from you; Even though you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood.
Hands that shed innocent blood are among the things listed in Pr 6:17 that God hates! “A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood,”
Not one drop of blood is shed without the Lord’s knowledge, and one day the earth will disclose her blood! Isa 26:21 says, “ For behold, the LORD comes out of His place To punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity; The earth will also disclose her blood, And will no more cover her slain.”
In the Book of Revelation, the third bowl of Judgment is poured out upon those who have shed the blood of saints and prophets: Rev 16:6, “For your holy people and your prophets have been killed, and their blood was poured out on the earth. So you have given their murderers blood to drink. It is their just reward."
And in Eze 24:6, there is a woe pronounced on the city that is free and easy with innocent blood! 'Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: "Woe to the bloody city, “
Do you get the idea that God does not like the shedding of innocent blood? What is He hearing from the soil of the abortion clinics in our land?
Now listen, because this is very important, especially for those who have participated in the act of shedding innocent blood. Blood cries to God not for vengeance alone! It also cries for redemption and forgiveness! 1Jo 1:7 says, “the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.” And Re 5:9 speaking of Jesus says, “ For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,”
No wonder God does not take the shedding of innocent blood lightly! It was by the shedding of His Son’s blood that our sins are forgiven.
An old hymn says it well, “Abel’s blood for vengeance, pleaded to the skies; But the blood of Jesus, for our pardon cries!” Let us never take the shedding of innocent blood lightly. It speaks loudly to God, not only of our sin, but of forgiveness of our sin as well.
Reflect:
What are some different ways of non-verbal communication?
Does anyone really "get away with murder?"
If guilty, what must one do to get right with God?
If we are guilty of any sin, what must we do to get right with God? (See 1 Jn 1:9)
Pray: Father God, forgive us as a nation for all the innocent blood we have spilled since the legalization of abortion in 1973. Help those who struggle with their own guilt in this matter, and assure us all anew, that there is no sin that Jesus didn’t pay for on the cross!
