# 168 Remember Lot's Wife Part Two

The Book of Genesis

Day 168

Ge 19:26 But his wife looked back behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

As we mentioned last time, this was one of the most important events in the Old Testament and Jesus used it to warn us all of what we need to consider in light of the Final Judgment. He said in Lu 17:32 "Remember Lot's wife.

What do we need to “remember” about her? First of all she looked back, and secondly because she looked back, she was turned into a pillar of salt. A forever monument to those who do not forsake all to follow Jesus! Jesus said in Lu 14:33 "So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple.”

Lot’s wife is a stark reminder that God wants us to go “all in” with Jesus. We can’t have one foot in heaven and one foot following the world!  Jesus calls us “give up” our ways and the ways of the world! He wants us to surrender the lordship of our lives to Him. This is imperative! He is not only our Savior…..He is our Lord! In surrendering to Him and His Lordship, we allow Him to decide what stays and what must be forsaken in our lives!

Lot’s wife, like the rebellious Israelites in the desert, desired to go back to Egypt.   Ex 16:3 And the children of Israel said to them, "Oh, that we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat and when we ate bread to the full! For you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger."

Remember Lot’s wife! Jesus is not just our Savior, He is our Lord! It is necessary for you and I to surrender the lordship of our lives to Him. He decides what we keep and what we forsake and He does that in His Word.

Don’t forget, Abraham didn’t just believe IN God, He BELIEVED God and it was accounted to him as righteousness, and Jesus also told us in Lu 6:46 "But why do you call Me 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do the things which I say?

The Lord specifically told Lot and his family to not look behind (Gen 19:17) but Lot’s wife chose “not to do the things that the Lord said,” and paid the price.

Beloved, “remember Lot’s wife….surrender to Jesus, bow your knee to Him as Lord. Ever seeking to keep His commands, and when you fail, (as you certainly will) turn to Him as your Savior and receive His forgiveness!

More lessons from Lot’s wife next time!

Pray: Father, help us to see the end of rejecting You as our Lord and Savior, by the power of the Holy Spirit bring us to the point of surrender and keep us there!
