Good
day! I’m Duane Matz and this is Today’s Living Word:
Ps
2:1 Why do the nations rage, And the people plot a vain thing?
Isa
17:12 Woe to the multitude of many people Who make a noise like the roar of the
seas, And to the rushing of nations That make a rushing like the rushing of
mighty waters! 13 The nations will rush like the rushing of many waters; But
God will rebuke them and they will flee far away, And be chased like the chaff
of the mountains before the wind, Like a rolling thing before the whirlwind. 14
Then behold, at eventide, trouble! And before the morning, he is no more. This
is the portion of those who plunder us, And the lot of those who rob us.
Our
country is in great turmoil now on the heels of the reversal of the Roe V Wade
Supreme Court decision that went down on January 22, 1973. This passage speaks
to the unrest in the land and how God will ultimately deal with those who rob
and plunder. (For example, those who would seek to do damage to pro-life crisis
pregnancy centers, churches, or just cause riotous mayhem in the streets, spewing
their venom at God’s people.
Let
me quote from the Paul Kretzmann commentary on this passage and you’ll see what
I mean.
“The
enemies of Israel, who are also a types of the enemies of the church, are
pictured as being in a state of seething
unrest, anxiously striving to harm the Lord’s people, in an apparently irresistible
tidal wave. ”
Does
that sound familiar today? It’s a scary situation for God’s people to be sure,
but this passage in Isaiah assures us that in the end, God will take care of those who make noise and
seek to do harm to His people.
To
the noisemakers, and tumult instigators, I plead, what part of “woe” do you not
understand. Take the time to look up the word “woe” in Scripture and believe
me, you do not want to be on the receiving end of it!.
The
Good News is that, as long as you are alive, you still have time to repent and
turn to Jesus and avoid the woe that will come the way of those who insist on
seething at God and His church.
I’m
Duane Matz and that’s Today’s Living Word.
