Good
day! I’m Duane Matz and this is Today’s Living Word:
Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory,
forever and ever.
Amen.
As
I was praying this morning, it occurred to me that the Lord’s prayer is
especially relevant for what’s going on in our world today! (Not that it’s not
relevant at other times)
But
in this prayer as we look at the moral decline around us, and the hate, and the
senseless violence. We pray “Come Lord Jesus, (Thy kingdom come!)
Families struggling with the high cost of
living and even worse, other countries battling famine and starvation. (Give us
this day our daily bread)
The
attacks on the followers of Christ beg us to ask God to forgive them as He has
forgiven us.
Guard
us from the temptation to lash out at our enemies in unforgiveness and protect
us from any harm that may come from our enemies. (Lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.)
And
finally acknowledging that God is able to do all these things we ask for in the
Lord’s prayer because the ultimately, the world is His kingdom, ruled by His
power, for his glory….Amen!
I’m
Duane Matz and that’s Today’s Living Word.
