# 567 - Today's Duvotional comes from: Mr 10:3-9 And He answered and said to them, "What did Moses command you?" 4 They said, "Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce, and to dismiss her." 5 And Jesus answered and said to them, "Because of the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept.
6 "But from the beginning of the creation, God 'made them male and female.'
7 'For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife,
8 'and the two shall become one flesh'; so then they are no longer two, but one flesh. 9 "Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate."
The Pharisees are trying to pin Jesus down on the matter of divorce. Their question boils down to the two schools of thought of their day, (and ours) Can a man divorce a wife for any reason (No-fault divorce) or just for the reason of sexual immorality? (in cases of adultery)
Look at His answer.
I mean really look at it!
His answer is, “neither school is right.” “What God has joined together, let not man separate.” There is no allowance for divorce! Or what part of “let not” have we failed to understand? God allowed it in the days of Moses, but He never approved of it. He allowed it because of the “hardness of their hearts.” Is this a tag you want as a follower of Christ? Then stop allowing for divorce. God hates it!
Father, soften our hearts to Your words of truth.
