# 325 - Today's Living Word comes from Mr 4:5-9 "Some fell on stony ground, where it did not have much earth; and immediately it sprang up because it had no depth of earth. "But when the sun was up it was scorched, and because it had no root it withered away. "And some seed fell among thorns; and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no crop. "But other seed fell on good ground and yielded a crop that sprang up, increased and produced: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred." And He said to them, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear!"
Jesus continues to paint a vivid picture of a farmer and his field. He plays out the scenario of farmers for all ages. Methods may change, technology may advance, but this has forever been the routine of planting and harvesting.
What a masterful Teacher He is! He is using a timeless, repetitive experience of man to teach us timeless repetitive spiritual truths in the kingdom of God.
Then He closes with the challenge. “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” Hmmmmm, He started this segment in verse 3 with the command to “Listen, and He ends with the same admonition. In other words, LISTEN TO THIS PARABLE! SEEK TO UNDERSTAND IT. THIS IS IMPORTANT STUFF!
For the next several weeks, we will be going over this section of Scripture with a fine tooth comb. I pray that you will follow along and that the Holy Spirit will teach us the timeless, repetitive, spiritual truths He wants us to learn.
