Unholy

251 - Today's Prime Time Devo comes from 2Ti 3:1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, We are looking at these strength sapping influences and behaviors that will plague the church until our Lord returns. Next on the list is that of unholiness. Men will be unholy. What does a church that has become “unholy” look like? I think we get a hint from Le 10:9-11, “"Do not drink wine or intoxicating drink, you, nor your sons with you, when you go into the tabernacle of meeting, lest you die. It shall be a statute forever throughout your generations, (Why?) 10 "that you may distinguish between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean, 11 "and that you may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the LORD has spoken to them by the hand of Moses." Obviously, we shouldn't attend worship services in an intoxicated state, that goes without saying! Eph 5:18 says “And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, This inebriation spoken of in Leviticus is a picture of what leads to unholiness, namely a clouded mind. When discernment of what is holy and what is not creeps into a church, it will become a hotbed of unholiness. I've always loved a line from the Charlie Daniels song, “Two Out Of Three,” It goes, “Jesus how could you love me, Oh sweet Jesus how could you love me. 'Cause when I had a choice between good and bad, I picked bad two out of three!” You see, ol' Charlie lost his discernment! And so will everyone else when they are given a choice as to what is holy and what is not. The world, the devil, and our flesh are powerful enemies in this regard! The standard of holiness must come from the Word of God! When a church stops distinguishing between right and wrong, a whole generation of unholy people will follow, and they will embrace all manner of unholy behaviors and lifestyles thrown at them by the world! At this point, let me remind you to take a look around! This acceptance of unholiness will always be with us in these last days, but fight to keep it out of your church! Proclaim the Word of God and let our mantra always be, “Thus saith the Lord” There is no cloudiness (no shadow of turning) in Him and His Word!
