Be Prepared

223 - Today's Prime Time Devo comes from 2Ti 2:9b,10, “but the word of God is not chained. Therefore I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.” (2 Tim 2:9b,10) The Word of God knows no chains. A great example of this is found in Php 1:12,13 when Paul talks about his imprisonment, “ But I want you to know, brethren, that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel, 13 so that it has become evident to the whole palace guard, and to all the rest, that my chains are in Christ;” Though chained, the palace guards were exposed to the gospel through Paul, and so Paul gladly endures the chains on his physical body, knowing that his continued witnessing by word and deed, may bring more people to Christ for the salvation of their souls. It is through faith in Christ that God has elected men to be saved! The Word of God is not chained! I wonder how this truth would alter are own approach to sharing the gospel. Knowing that the Word of God is not tied down to our own particular circumstances. We can be a witness for Christ any time and in any place. Paul was in jail and he shared Christ, others may be in a hospital, a nursing home, a restaurant, paying it forward at a drive through, or even at a gathering of a bunch of tax collectors watching a Super Bowl game. It's not necessary to barge into such places and start blasting away with the Word of God, but 1Pe 3:15 says, “sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;” Who knows what will happen when you are prepared to do this? The unchained Word of God is powerful! Heb 4:12 tells us: “the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” and Rom 1:16 says, “ For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.” Be prepared! You never know how or when the Holy Spirit will help you lead someone to Christ!
