Stirring Up Discord

163 - Today's Prime Time Devo comes from 1Ti 6:3,4 “If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which accords with godliness, 4 he is proud, knowing nothing, but is obsessed with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions,” (1 Tim 6:3,4) Look what happens when false teachers in local congregations refute the wholesome words and doctrine of Christ by chasing after loopholes. Look what happens when these man-made loopholes are embraced! Envy raises it's ugly head among members as sin is excused and embraced rather than dealt with along biblical lines. Strife arises as tempers flare over who is right and who is wrong. Both camps engage in reviling one another, and evil suspicious arise over questions about each others sincerity of faith! Look at these words! They are all words of discord, and Pr 6:19 tells us that God hates those who sow discord among the brethren. This can all be avoided by following Jesus' simple advice. It is written!! This penchant for excusing sin and dismissing the doctrine of Christ is the result of a corrupted mind that seeks to find objections every time it runs into truth, so that it may justify sin. It sees and seeks reasons to live contrary to the Word of God. Jesus spoke of this in Joh 3:19 "And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 "For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21 "But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God." These loophole seekers have been blinded by the god of this age: 2Co 4:4 whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. Friend, come to the light! Stop seeking to justify sin, rather confess it, put it under the blood of Jesus , receive His forgiveness and seek to forsake your sins living in obedience to the healthy life-giving words of Christ!
