Put It Out There Like Paul Did

# 33 Today's Prime Time Devo comes from: 1Ti 1:17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen. Sometimes we forget that these first 17 verses of 1 Timothy are just the greeting from Paul to Timothy. Paul wraps up the greeting with a spontaneous gushing of praise, hot on the heels of his personal testimony of the mercy and grace offered to the chief of sinners that he was! Where did this expression of praise come from? It came from the Holy Spirit who lives and dwells in all believers and is ever ready to shine the spotlight on the Father and the Son. Examples of this kind of spontaneous praise are found throughout Scripture. God does something, or someone like Paul recalls what God has done, and out of nowhere....an explosion of praise! That explosion usually includes some of the praiseworthy attributes of God! A quick example comes from 1Ch 29:10-13 when David is responding to God moving on the hearts of the people to give of their treasure to help build the temple: “Therefore David blessed the LORD before all the assembly; and David said: "Blessed are You, LORD God of Israel, our Father, forever and ever. 11 Yours, O LORD, is the greatness, The power and the glory, The victory and the majesty; For all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours; Yours is the kingdom, O LORD, And You are exalted as head over all. 12 Both riches and honor come from You, And You reign over all. In Your hand is power and might; In Your hand it is to make great And to give strength to all. 13 "Now therefore, our God, We thank You And praise Your glorious name.” When's the last time you were moved to such praise? When's the last time you reflected on God's activity in your own life? May I suggest that you take time from your busy schedule and ask the Holy Spirit to lead you in spontaneous written or spoken praise? Make it a family activity. Tie it into your personal story. Reflect on the attributes of God as you recall what God has done for you and put it out there like Paul did. This is a grand exercise because the Bible tells us that God inhabits the praises of His people (Ps 22:3)
